SETN Success Story - Meet Dimitra!

When the SETN team first met Dimitra, she told us she’d only ever had a bit of experience helping out in her family’s business. School hadn’t offered many practical programs or work placements, especially anything like the hands-on hospitality training she was hoping for. So, when Dimitra found out about the SETN Hospitality Bootcamp, she jumped at the chance.

Dimitra said it was the first time she’d seen a program that was flexible, organised, and actually accessible for young people who can’t afford expensive courses. She loved that her school encouraged students to get involved, and she thinks it’s something that should continue for years to come.

Before joining SETN, Dimitra had never had a job even though she’d always wanted to work in hospitality. Like many young people, she found it frustrating that employers often expect experience she hadn’t been able to get yet. And trying to find affordable training was almost impossible.

That’s where SETN made all the difference.

Dimitra told us that as a young person, getting a foot in the door felt really hard. But SETN, she said, treated her like someone capable and ready to work. Through the bootcamp she was able to build confidence, learn real skills, and most importantly, get connected to actual workplaces. SETN helped organise some of her first ever shifts in a real business, giving her the experience employers look for and opening the door to ongoing job opportunities. Dimitra was then offered a job at her work experience venue!

Now, Dimitra is loving her new workplace. She describes it as full of “good vibes” with easy-going co-workers and a supportive manager. Even after just a few shifts, she already feels like she’s in the right place.

At SETN we are so proud of Dimitra for taking the initiative, showing up, and believing in herself. And we’re grateful to play a small part in helping her start her journey in hospitality.

Huge congratulations, Job Champion Dimitra — you’ve absolutely earned it!
